In the 1990s, due to the decline of shoe and furniture manufacturers in the Czech Republic, leather production almost disappeared. However, KARO found its outlet abroad and has been trading in leather since the mid-1990s and is still expanding. In the past, the trading group was transformed into a manufacturing plant. Today, the KARO Group consists of two limited liability companies and one joint stock company.

The KARO Group continues the traditional leather production in the Central European region. The founder of the company, Mr. Pavel Klvaňa, has been dealing in leather for the furniture industry since the mid-1990s together with other companies. Originally a trading group, the company was transformed over time into a production plant dedicated to complex machining and applying finishes to leather.
The actual production started in the newly built production premises in Boršov u Jihlavy at the end of 2015. The modern ecological plant with the highest level of machinery was built on the site of the former joint-cooperative premises. In view of the growing customer demands, the company continues to expand the production plant and plans further development in the future.
